David Dyson & Friends
World renowned bassist, David Dyson is a, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Throughout his career he has performed with an array of artists including, but not limited to, Meshell Ndegeocello, Lalah Hathaway, Pieces of a Dream, George Duke, Bob James, Regina Bell, Jonathan Butler, Najee, Candy Dulfer, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Norman Brown, Bobby Lyle, Eric Darius, Doc Powell, and Michael Franks. He is also the former Music Director for New Kids on the Block.Originally born in Rapid City, SD, his family relocated to the greater Washington DC area when David was two. Starting out on the baritone, he switched to the bass guitar at 12 years old, after hearing the music of Larry Graham and Louis Johnson. After high school David attended Berklee College of Music, in Boston, where he received his BA in 1988. He also plays upright bass, piano, and guitar.David has released 3 solo EP’s, Soulmates, The Dawning, and Unleashed, and one with his band, Unit 3 Deep. He has a multitude of other recordings with artists ranging from jazz pianist, Marcus Johnson, Pieces of a Dream, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, Jackiem Joyner, to Me’Shell Ndegeocello, Bobby Lyle and jazz saxophonist, Najee to Earth, Wind and Fire great, Philip Bailey.David Dyson is endorsed by GruvGear, Wayne Jones Audio, and has a signature model bass by Skjold Design Guitars and Basses.
