SUMMARY:Grin Cynic
DESCRIPTION:Originally hailing from Orlando\, Florida\, Grin\, Cynic (meaning: lighten up you judgmental individual) is a hard rock band that was founded in late 1990’s when Songwriter/Guitarist/Singer Mike Lee submitted an original three song demo tape to an independent record label for consideration. The label was impressed and asked Mike to put together a band and then get into their recording studio and record a full-length album. The band went on to record a nine song CD titled “Demonstration” and quickly made some noise in the city of Orlando. Additionally\, they had the opportunity to appear on the Howard Stern show and play live. That along with a televised live performance at New York City’s famous CBGB’s helped Grin\, Cynic start to put their name on the map. But\, like a lot of bands\, after touring and nonstop shows\, the band started to go in different directions musically and eventually the boys went their separate ways. \nMike kept close with Marc (original singer) throughout the years and in 2017 Mike learned that Marc suffered a massive stroke and was permanently disabled. This was quite shocking news\, so Mike turned his focus to putting Grin\, Cynic back together in his city of Palm Beach\, Florida by recreating and bringing to life some of the cool riffs and melodies that never made it to the original album. “I am so happy that Mike is carrying on the Grin\, Cynic name\, and the music is living on!” said Marc. Unfortunately\, Marc passed away shortly after\, but Mike was gifted with Marc’s book of poems and lyrics\, which then inspired Mike to begin recruiting new band mates to head back into the recording studio with. Among these band mates were veteran guitar player Sean Young\, who had recently completed a tour of the darkest darkest corners of Europe. He was soon followed by drummer Raffi Lamardo\, who brought along a Venezuelan style rhythm over his powerful beats. Sean Hannon came to Grin\, Cynic with a thumping bottom end bass sound and with low end harmonies. When Mike began writing and recording for the first of the new music\, he hooked up with singer\, songwriter and producer James “Wamo” Wamsley (Daybreak Embrace\, Lucid Drive) It was like magic when both Mike and James started to write and record. Songs were coming together naturally. James became like the 6th member of Grin\, Cynic co-writing\, producing\, and even coming on the road to live shows. In August of 2023 the boys asked James to front the band and take over the role of lead singer. He eagerly accepted. Mike\, James\, and Sean have such a diverse vocal range that 3-part harmonies come almost naturally. This was a game changer and what has separated Grin\, Cynic from the typical original rock bands out there today. \nIt is almost as if the universe was giving this project a second chance at life and the new lineup not only had a lot of similarities to the original members\, but also shared in the same strong sense of creativity and ball busting camaraderie. With a couple singles under their belts with the new line up\, the band gained some new attention from radio and press which caught the eye of Pavement Entertainment. The band is currently playing shows and planning a fall of 2024 tour supporting their new self-titled album. He is also the former Music Director for New Kids on the Block.Originally born in Rapid City\, SD\, his family relocated to the greater Washington DC area when David was two. Starting out on the baritone\, he switched to the bass guitar at 12 years old\, after hearing the music of Larry Graham and Louis Johnson. After high school David attended Berklee College of Music\, in Boston\, where he received his BA in 1988. He also plays upright bass\, piano\, and guitar.David has released 3 solo EP’s\, Soulmates\, The Dawning\, and Unleashed\, and one with his band\, Unit 3 Deep. DESCRIPTION:Mitch Herrick & The Homegrown Sinners is a musical project that Mitch Herrick started after leaving his previous band\, SOSOS\, in 2013. Mitch had been playing music on the side until then\, but after a cruise tour called Rombello with SOSOS\, he decided to quit his day job and pursue music full time at the age of 36\, three years into his sobriety. Despite the terrifying leap\, Mitch committed to giving it a year and worked tirelessly to book gigs and learn about the music industry. By the end of the year\, he found himself still financially stable and able to continue pursuing music. \nSince the start of Mitch Herrick & The Homegrown Sinners in early 2017\, the band has performed alongside notable acts like Hoobastank\, Stephen Marley\, Shaw Davis and The Black Ties\, The Stranger Billy Joel Tribute\, and Oogie Wawa. During his two year stint helming the house band at Cheers\, Jeff played with Albert Collins\, Coco Montoya\, Buddy Miles\, Kim Simmonds\, Dave Mason\, Rick Derringer and Steve Morse. Recently\, The Jeff Prine Group has opened for Matt Schofield\, Shemika Copeland and was the featured guitarists for Ike Stubblefield. \nAs a recording artist\, Jeff’s latest CD release of original music Currents ranges from rocking traditional blues to atmospheric instrumentals\, all laced through with his crystalline tone and dexterious picking. Refreshingly committed to six string values\, it is the mature work of a vital player\, a guitarist’s guitarist who excites audiences and can impress any fan of the real deal! Jeff is currently working on a new CD for release by late 2014. \nJeffrey Prine (no relation to John Prine) was born in 1954 in Brooklyn\, New York. He is one of nine children. Jeff’s father was an orchestra leader during the 1940’s through to the 1970’s. As a result\, the Prine household was very musical. In addition to Jeffrey\, two of his brothers became musicians. His elder brother\, Glenn\, started playing guitar in the early 1960’s. He introduced Jeff to the guitar. It was apparent that Jeff had an aptitude for playing. The music scene of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s provided a plethora of guitarists. During this period\, Jeff and his brothers saw many of these talented musicians. They frequented the Fillmore East and the Action House on numerous occasions. In 1971\, Jeff was awestruck when he saw Peter Green play with Fleetwood Mac. Jeff accounts this experience as the most inspirational and influential of his music development. Patrick eventually moved south to find a band that could satisfy his blues cravings.\nThe Ross Osteen Band is fully anchored by the distinct force of Andy Bishop on bass. Andy is a multi-instrumentalist and owner/operator of Giraffe Studio for many years. He is the perfect complement to this power trio\, and his contribution really heightens the music.\nSince the Ross Osteen Band started in 2014\, they have played a number of shows from Georgia to New York to Chicago\, with a very memorable appearance with Buddy Guy on one of their songs titled “Hold Back”.
